I need tο bυу a nеw car seat fοr mу 5 month ancient son. Thе carrier wе hаνе now іѕ ехсеƖƖеnt up tο 22lbs аnԁ 29 inches long. Hе′s currently 20 lbs аnԁ 28 inches long. I want tο bυу another carrier, bυt thе max length I’m finding іѕ fοr a 32 inches long infant. I’m wondering іf thаt wіƖƖ mаkе іt tο thе 1 year mаrk whеn hе needs tο ɡο tο a front facing seat ѕο I won’t need tο bυу another one? I’m assuming іt’s ƖіkеƖу thаt hе′ll grow another 4 inches іn thе next 7 months?
Mу οnƖу come forth wіth getting a convertible, іѕ thаt I live іn a VERY сοƖԁ/snowy/windy state … аnԁ I thουɡht іt wουƖԁ bе safer/simpler іn thе winter іn a carrier? Subdue a waste οf money? Or worth іt?

I’d just get a convertible. They face backwards too. My nearly 10 month ancient has been in his Britax convertible seat since he was 4 months ancient.
Just get a convertible. They rear face and forward face. I switched my son at 6 months to a convertible. His seat will cover him until he is 45 lbs. and/or 48 inches.
convertible, it will save you so much money and you baby will be safe
Since he’s so tall i wouldn’t even bother buying another infant carrier. I had a 30 lbs. Weight limit infant carrier and my daughter could use it until she was nearly 18 months, but after about 6 months i stopped taking it out of the car. I basically just used it because i had it. Just buy a convertible car seat, one that rear faces and forward faces.
EDIT: I had the same thought! I live in a bitterly cold and snowy state as well. That’s why i chose on the higher weight infant carrier. I finished up really transportation her in *i reckon* twice that whole winter. It was just way too heavy. Once they get nearly 7 or 8 months, the carrier is next to impossible to carry. The higher weight infant carriers are also larger and weigh more, so you have the weight of you child PLUS the extra weight of the seat. Getting the carrier into the base is harder when they are heavier too, i found myself fumbling nearly with it and it took me nearly as much time as it did to just strap her in the convertible car seat. So i used the convertible most of the time, even it was snowy.
You won’t find much larger than that. not sure why you want ot lug 20 pounds nearly anyway. convertible would be best for you, then you can place him rear facing for as long as possible
Get the convertible! You don’t need to be lugging that business nearly anyway, too heavy! We just got one for our 21 pound 4 month ancient that’ll rear face to 45 pounds and forward face to 80… we may not have to buy him another seat, ever! And if we do it’ll be an inexpensive booster. You must try to get one that rear faces for a long time because your baby is safest rear facing for as long as possible, not just til their birthday. If you need something to carry him in I suggest a ring sling. You can get more information about them at thebabywearer.com
They don’t really grow that quickly in length… atleast my son doesn’t and he is pretty tall for his age. I would just wait and see what happens but if he grows out of it before the one year mark certainly go with a convertible car seat. It would be a complete waste to get another carrier just for a month or so.
I gave up on the carrier nearly 7 months because he was so freaking heavy I couldn’t stand it anymore. It was much simpler to get him in and out of the convertible carseat and he was much more comfortable with more space.
EDIT:
Check out Albeebaby.com if you want to find a deal too! They have the best prices and I had a fantastic experience shopping with them. I got a $300 carseat for less than $200.
Get a convertible, they can rear face and forward face. BTW he doesn’t NEED to go forward facing at one. It’s WAY safer if you keep him rear facing as long as possible, it’s really recommended by the American College of Pediatrics to rear face until at least age 2.
