Mу daughter іѕ ѕtаrtеԁ tο grow out οf hеr infant car seat, ѕο I аm currently reviewing аnԁ pricing out convertible car seats. Wе already hаνе one fοr mу husband’s car, аn Evenflo Triumph Premier, bυt I rесkοn I want tο ɡеt thе Britax Marathon fοr mу car. It doesn’t hаνе аƖƖ thе wings аnԁ padding οn thе sides thаt ѕοmе οf thе οthеr seats hаνе, bυt I’ve read online reviews οf іt аnԁ іt tops a lot οf lists. Thе fee іѕ steep аt $279, whісh οf course I wουƖԁ pay fοr thе protection аnԁ welfare οf mу child. Bυt іf I spend thаt much I want tο mаkе sure I аm getting thе best features. Mυѕt I ɡο wіth thе Marathon, οr ԁο уου suggest another model οr brand? Thanks!

We just bought one. Haven’t installed it yet but we bought it because it tops the lists and the Around-About has a lower weight limit. We’re hoping this will be the last car seat we need to buy.

That’s what I got. It got the best reviews consumer reports. You can usually find a 15%off coupon from babies r us.

  • I love my BABY!!!:

Make sure it has SIP (side impact protection) as well.

*Yes, the marathon does have SIP. You’re excellent to go!

I reckon there are other car seats that are just as excellent for cheaper. IMO Britax looks cheap. Go browse Butt or Kmart. you’ll get an thought of what I mean.

Oh yes it’s steep but it’s worth it! I’ve had my daughter in it since she was 3 months, they are fantastic b/c you can use them all the way until she needs a booster seat instead of a carseat.

We bought the Eddie Bauer Adjustable High Back Booster Seat when our son turned 1. We like it! We liked that it will grow with him, 22 to100 lbs. It changes from a 5 point harness car seat to a belt booster ant then to a backless belt booster. And my son likes to place his cup in the holder over and over again. And it was only $80 at butt… We looked a the Marathon but our son is tall for his age so we didn’t like that it maxes out at 65 lbs and 49 inches. Plus it’s a bit on the pricey side.

    Excellent Luck & God Bless!

Go to Consumer Reports. The Graco ComfortSport scored just as high as the Britax Marathon, but is only $99.

This is what we have for our baby after doing MUCH research… she is 12 months ancient and we are going to keep her rear-facing in it until she reaches the limit, which I believe is 35 lbs. The ComfortSport has extra ABS padding in it, also, and seems to be very comfy for my baby. She started using it at 7 months at 16 lbs and is now right at 21 pounds, she subdue has lots of growing room left in the seat! Her feet are not even near touching the seat of my van when she is rear-facing in it.

If you haven’t seen the rear-facing crash test results, go on You Tube and look… the difference between rear-facing and forward-facing in a crash is incredible!

I looked at the triumph, the marathon, diplomat, boulevard and a few others. The “side impact protection” seemed flimsy on all the models that had it, and the marathon has absolutely no reports of failing in that way. I finished up purchasing the marathon (got it for 20% off) and it fits well into my Honda Town. I LOVE IT. The above reviewer who said it “looked cheap” must not have really tried the controls and “looked below the hood”. I found the marathon to be the simplest to work and had the most levelheaded feel. Plus, the height and weight limit is fantastic – you must get your money’s worth out of it.
