So if you have to park you are not having to take the car seat out with your back to traffic. Also, if you must happen to get hit by an incoming car it would typically hit the drivers side of the car. Which means byhaving the car seat on the passanger side backs eat the impact wil be less serve.

I hear all saying the middle is the safest. I’m assuming so that if you get hit on either side, the baby will be less harmed. I had twins, so of course the middle was impossible. If you have one baby it would make sense to use the middle. But I don’t reckon there is a need to sit back there with her.
The safest spot is the middle of the back sit but it’s really up to you where you want to place her. Doctors will tell you though that the safest place for the baby is in the middle of the back sit just in case of a wreck or whatever. My daughter is 2 years ancient and she subdue sits in the middle and until I have another baby she will be in the middle then I will place the baby in the middle and her on the side.

I would urge buying a mirror that attaches to the back of the rear seats so that you can look in your rear view mirror into that mirror and see baby when she is in her rear-facing car seat.

In my compact car (’99 Honda Town coupe) car seats don’t fit in the middle at all for 2 reasons: There’s a hump in the middle and I can’t get seats tight there , and no one could sit in drivers or passenger side seats if if a seat was rear facing in the middle in the back. So I couldn’t place my son there, and in my mom’s car, where there’s 2 kids, can’t place either in the middle or they won’t both fit. Here’s the best way to place it: she’s not unsafe in an outboard position, she’s just safest in the middle.
